Gabriel & Dresden BIO
If there’s one thing that Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden have proven beyond a doubt in theirtwenty+year journey, it’s that they’renotlike everybody else. Their unique aesthetic is rooted intheir visceral connection to new wave melancholia aswell as euphoric and driving dance music. Their perennial popularity is fueled by their dedication to authentically expressing themselves through deeply personal original productions, inspired remixes, and DJ sets designed to make their audiences not just move but feel.
Gabriel & Dresden are currently taking their signature sound to dance floors around the world with Gabriel & Dresden + Friends. Consciously curated from start to finish, Gabriel & Dresden +Friends feature special guests from their wildly popular Club Quarantine streams—including Dosem, Olan, Rinzen, Miss Monique, among many others. These intimate and cathartic evenings defy genre and take their audiences on a journey through emotional dance music in all its forms, from delicate to driving.
Two and a half years and still going strong, Gabriel & Dresden’s Club Quarantine streams onTwitch 25 to 30 hours a month to thousands of viewers and gives Josh, Dave, and their song writing partner Sub Teal the freedom to explore the depths of melodic techno, trance, and house without the pressure of the dance floor. Club Quarantine has also reunited them with dance music that has inspired them from their earliest days and their 80s idols such as Yaz,Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, New Order, and The Cure.
Their mutual love of these influences is what originally drove Josh and Dave to join forces in 2001. They quickly became known for their fresh and memorable remixes and productions, garnering 21 #1 Billboard Dance Chart hits while putting their signature stamp on B-sides for adiverse range of artists such as Annie Lennox, Above & Beyond, Sarah McLaughlin, Way OutWest, and Jewel. Their reputation for creating timeless vocal gems was solidified with classicssuch as “As The Rush Comes” featuring Jes (which reached #11 on the UK singles charts),“Tracking Treasure Down” with Molly Bancroft, and “Dangerous Power” with Jan Burton.
Today, Gabriel & Dresden continue to create sonic alchemy with the talented and soulful singer, songwriter, and performer Sub Teal. The collaboration has yielded two deeply emotivefull-length albums on the iconic Anjunabeats label—The Only Road (of which the Cosmic Gateremix of the title track was nominated for a Grammy), and Remedy. They regularly perform alongside Above & Beyond and an extended roster of Anjunabeats artists around the world at venues like the O2 Arena, Red Rocks, the LA Convention Center, and The Gorge. “We need Gabriel & Dresden in our life,” says Above & Beyond, “It’s always been like that. Their music inspires us and their remixes changed our map…they pulse with the rarest thing in ourscene: a clear and compelling personality.
